September 2013

Welcome to the 2013-2014 WWCWG season! We are looking forward to our season launch on September 8.

Our verse for inspiration this year is:

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." (Colossians 3:23-24, NIV)

Whether we happen to write for Christian publications, or we are writers who happen to be Christians, we can work at it with all our hearts. It's all in the attitude we have when we approach our writing, our full time work, our service, our family time...whatever we do. I need a daily reminder about Who I serve. How about you?

A big thanks to our leadership team for their work in preparing for this coming season with finding terrific speakers to inspire all of us. We have a couple of changes to announce. We welcome Jeremiah Zeiset to the leadership team. He is the founder of Life Sentence Publishing. We also want give a huge thank you to Cheryl Frisch for her years on the board. Cheryl is taking a break this fall from leadership duties.

We like to share a writing prompt every month. It's something you may want to use in your morning pages (see Julia Cameron) or in your journal. Or you might want to write a piece to bring in for critique group. In keeping with the topic for our meeting this month, let's reflect on these three things:

  • Who inspired and nurtured me as a writer? Encouraged me or told me I had ability?
  • What am I doing right now to nurture my writing gift?
  • Who else could I encourage in their own journey as a writer? A young person? A friend with a dream?

COMING UP: September 10, 2013 "A Story Yet to Tell" presented by Barbara WeisenbergerSee the schedule page for more details.

You could bring what you’ve written in response to the prompt above, or something else you’re working on. It can be a portion of a book chapter, or a short article too.

Tell Your Friends:
We have a WWCWG Facebook page and we would appreciate if you'd share the page with your friends to get the word out. If you don't have facebook, please share a link to our website with a friend. Better yet, bring a friend with you to check out the guild. Their first visit is free.

I hope you had a wonderful summer. We're looking forward to seeing you are our next meeting.
