October 2016
Post date: Oct 5, 2016 2:23:04 AM
This month's newsletter, written by Renee Liming:
In the FamilyLife Today series, The Profound Power of a Legacy, Dennis Rainey
and Bob Lepine ask the thought provoking question: How will people
remember you? All of us are given a legacy. All of us are called by God to
leave a legacy, to leave something behind, to have an impact on the next
generation. What will your legacy be? What do you value? What do you want
to pass down? Your legacy is really a reflection of what is important to you.
Are you living your life the way that you want to be remembered? Knowing
the answer to these questions helps you live a purposeful life every day, to
live the way that you want to be remembered.
Writing Prompt: Don't wait, start today by writing your life stories, your
legacy. A hundred years from now some family member will be looking for the
connections, the bridge, and you'll be remembered because you took the time
to write your legacy.
COMING UP: Join us as we welcome Renee Liming to share with us. She is
passionate about helping others record their life stories and will share about
the reasons for sharing our stories, values, recipes, wisdom, and lessons
learned. She will speak about legacy writing and how we can get started on the
legacy we want to leave for our families.
FEEDBACK (CRITIQUE) OPPORTUNITY:
If you want to receive feedback on your work, come early (5:30 p.m.) to meet
with others. Bring 6-8 copies of your short piece (300 words or so) for the group
to read along as you share. You could bring what you've written in response to
the prompt above, or something else you're working on. It can be a portion of a
book chapter or a short article too.
See you at the October meeting!
