This month's newsletter, written by Patti Nicholson:

October is here, bringing with it changing colors, falling temperatures, and shorter daylight hours.  It is good weather for staying inside and writing in front of the blazing fireplace (if you have one).

When you get new ideas about articles or books that you might like to write, do you get stuck just getting started?  Bring your questions to this month's meeting and you may just get answers that will get you writing like never before!

Writing Prompt: How do you get your ideas for your writing?  Do you use life experiences, writing prompts from outside sources, writing contest criteria, or something else?  Write about it.

COMING UP: October 14, 2014 - guest speaker, Susan Brill.  She will be speaking on the topic of "Great Beginnings:  Lead Sentences and Opening Paragraphs."  We look forward to the knowledge that she will share from her years of experience.

If you want to receive feedback on your work, come early (5:30 p.m.) to meet with others. Bring 6-8 copies of your short piece (300 words or so) for the group to read along as you share. You could bring what you have written in response to the prompt above, or something else you’re working on. It can be a portion of a book chapter, or a short article too.

See you at the October meeting!
